Kevin Corrigan is so great. i loved Grounded For Life too. and i don't normally get into those sitcom-type shows, but the writing and acting on that show was unusually good. The way the storylines unfolded in flashbacks was brilliant. also for a primetime family-type show they sure snuck in a lot of subtle drug

Every scene in Polyester featuring Lulu is pure comedy gold.

japanese comedy
a ski resort prank that was on a japanese TV show a few years ago has got to be the funniest thing i've ever seen, particularly the last 2 minutes when they take it to the next level.

Shonen Knife
well the main reason i don't listen to Shonen Knife anymore is probably more related to the sad fact that they haven't been all that good since the early 90's, but i also closely associate them with a cute girlfriend i had around '91 who was a big fan. we used to always sing along in the car to their 80's

i second the Metropolis recommendation. such a beautifully crafted movie. at first glance you think it might be a remake of the 20's german silent classic of the same name, but it was actually based on a popular 1940's manga series that was loosely inspired by that movie. So it is a contemporary (yet

i think Speed Racer holds up as well as anything from the 60's. it now has a nice looking retro style - it didn't age badly like some 70's/80's anime i can think of. They just don't make animation like that anymore. The now-vintage-looking race cars are awesome. and i was seriously crushing on Trixie when i was 9 or

Castle in the Sky is my favorite Miyazaki. i love the steampunk style in it. i want to live in that world.

i thought Jack was obviously stoned out of his mind when he was meeting john at the hospital, hooked on the pills and clearly not himself. This was right before he tried to kill himself, wasn't it? i thought Fox did an appropriate acting job.

i prefer the 2nd-gen glam rock
british glam didn't really die in the early 70's, it just got rebadged as "new wave" when it re-emerged in popularity after the original punk era ran its course.

Chloe's family…
… presented by the all-new 2009 Hyundai Genesis.

oh, those i recommended all pre-date the pink panther movies. if you are looking for good Peter Sellers movies from the late-60's - 70's, i haven't seen anything i would recommend besides what you already have seen.

'The Wrong Arm of the Law' is really funny. so is 'Two Way Stretch'. 'The Naked Truth' is good too.

4AD often had the most impressive cover art in the 80's / 90's because of in-house designers like Vaughan Oliver and Chris Biggs, and their frequent collaborations with the artsiest photographers and fine artists such as Shinro Ohtake, so they were way ahead of the curve when it came to album cover design trends.
