Okay, laying the odds down now:
Okay, laying the odds down now:
Nerdist hits 3-for-3 this week, that's gotta be some kind of record. There seemed to be a bit of Gaffigan overload this week, with him on the Nerdist, Sklarboro, and that mini call-in bit he did on WTF. It's nice to see the podcast community wanting to get out the word on a good comic with a special available for…
The combination of Bradley Whitford and Amy Poehler creates the potential for a new innovation in the field, a walk-and-improve.
Don't forget the weed.
Dude, y'all should jump back on Aisha Tyler's Girl on Guy podcast. Even though it had a bit of a slump after a strong start, it's gotten awfully goddamned awesome over the past few weeks. The Baratunde episode from this Tuesday was one of the best podcasts of this week. Funny, insightful, and moving at such a good…
Most 2600 groups around the country has sticks so far up their asses they would find a way to be upset with pretty much anything.
Oh, they definitely thought this was what was going on at the time. My favorite insane bit of art direction: the brightly-colored pieces of paper that would occasionally be posted to the walls of random public locations (like the subway station) with random "hacker" slogans printed on them in big black letters. It was…
Nope, he' right. Fear of a Black Hat is much better. CB4 has its moments, but it's too obvious and tries to hit too many early-90s studio-comedy cliches (*cough* unnecessary action chase scene *cough*). Taking the Spinal Tap approach to the material was a much better choice.
PhiPhi is fresh fish, and did go a good job on the opening song. Unfortunately, it seems fishy queens will always beat out big queens when it comes down to the wire. :(
Tyra was given a pretty major bitch edit in season 2, and then ended up winning. Perhaps Ru is just seeing exactly how far the reality show paradigm can be spun.
Latrice would be fierce in All-Stars. Her biggest weakness this season was outfits that weren't always up to snuff. With a year's experience under her belt (and all the extra publicity that she's gotten with this go-around), I wouldn't be surprised if she is just unstoppable on a second round.
That was quite possible the pinnacle of Untucked. I can just imagine the editors giddy with anticipation when they saw the footage for this episode.
Well, a major theme of Banksy's art is that you shouldn't pay for it. Beyond that, though, it doesn't even take emphatic defense. If someone was talking as much shit about Banksy as they are now about Kinkade, would you say anything at all to counter it? (Or at least dismiss the person dissing Banksy so virulently?) A…
Thomas Kinkade never had a fan his whole life. He had customers. Fans will laud you long after you've passed and defend your reputation against criticism, perhaps even changing the outlook of your work in the culture over time. Customers will just buy someone else's shit.
I'm surprised you didn't go into podcasts that manage to get by on donations. A few podcasts I listen to have thrown up Kickstarter campaigns that ended up being tremendously successful (one managing to pull in around $15,000). Considering that a libsyn account that can cover a Maron-sized number of downloads runs…
Yea, podcasts are definitely super entrepreneurial right now, basically for the exact reasons mentioned in this article. It'll be interesting to see if podcasts will even end up becoming more of a corporate media where a personality like Stern can just walk in and collect his checks…
Snoop is playing the older brother of a high school kid? Isn't he like 40 now? They couldn't have made him an uncle or something?
Okay, there's a very important part of this review missing. You mention that there are nudity-heavy antics. You mention that Katrina Bowden is playing a hard-partying girlfriend. So, does any of the nudity in the movie involve Bowden, because that would be worth the price of a ticket right there.
Goddamn David Pogue is such a ham. It's pretty difficult to watch the episodes he hosts because they keep venturing into bad joke territory. I don't know why they keep on booking him for all the material science gigs on Nova, but I have a very dark feeling that they're gonna replace Tyson with him for Nova Science Now…
Aside from playing almost the entire song, I think this was the first LSFYL where they didn't cut to any voiceovers during the whole thing. Usually they throw in a few words to kind of steer the audience a bit and let them know which was Ru is going to go. This time, though, the only thing that even came close was…
