I swear, I don't have a problem with Paul Dano's acting, but that pic up top makes me clench my fists reflexively. That smirk was made for punchin'.

It's been pretty okay, Burl, thanks for asking. Good talk!

It's Burl! Hi, Burl! How's your winter going?

Damn you both for making the joke I was about to make.

Phrasing!

@avclub-4caf6aa0375b2499ebfe7e971b36eee3:disqus I have the same problem. I was always taught that maintaining eye contact was the thing to do to express respect, attention, and friendliness; but then one day a friend called me out for it because it was apparently "too much" and was making them uncomfortable.

If you're a socially awkward people-pleaser who has no experience with being in a position of power, conducting job interviews is really hard. The first time I did it I was extremely nervous, and I was interviewing college interns, fer cryin' out loud.

Can exploitation movies be great? Sure (though the tightrope they have to walk to get there is extremely thin). Is Django Unchained a Great Movie? Nope.

Sorry. It was saddled with a pretty silly plot that was trying to pass itself off as serious. People complain about the plot holes in The Dark Knight (i.e., how did the Joker organize his thugs and his actions so that X,Y, and Z would be certain to happen at just the right moment), and Skyfall was that multiplied by a

Well, CZ's response seems to be right in line with her "eh, I like it just cuz" approach to pop culture. At least she's consistent, I guess?

Deakins for Cinematography. Besides him being way, way, way overdue for an Oscar, I thought Skyfall was one of the most gorgeous things I saw all year. That climactic sequence, with all the darkness and the flames backlighting the characters, was absolutely stunning, visually speaking. "Expressive" is a great way to

You can't take the sky from me!

A lot of people, especially around these parts, hated the second album when it was released. Then the third album came out and they discovered what true disappointment was. Now that Bloc Party's stopped making good music, A Weekend in the City never got the reappraisal it deserved. Most people seem to think of Bloc

This was the song that got me hooked on Bloc Party. I've never understood the hate for their second album; other than "Where Is Home?"—which, yes, is a terrible, terrible song—it's on the same level as their first.

This comment deserves all the likes.
