Yeah, that expansion's called Farmers of the Moor. I've heard that it really spices up the family game, which may explain why your coworker finds the family game so satisfying. I've never tried FotM (and quickly got bored with just the family-game rules), but with all the different cards that come with the base game,

@avclub-d542a3419c3ad57206a96bcc86155ebc:disqus Perhaps, but at least they all managed to bounce back from it after a while. Schwarzenegger was still Schwarzenegger, Thurman got the Kill Bill movies, Clooney directed and also did the Ocean's 11 movies … Silverstone hasn't had a hit since. The only person who came out

Have you tried Castles of Burgundy? If you like Agricola, you'll definitely like Castles. In fact, I may like it even MORE than Agricola, mostly because it's easier to learn and thus easier to rope newbies into investing the time in it. Agricola's a great game, but it's not much of a game if you can't find anyone

The problem with Monopoly is illustrated by a game I played two years ago with a friend (which is also the last time I have ever played Monopoly). My friend ended up going last, and for his first five turns his rolls had him landing on (1) properties that had already been bought by the players going before him, (2)

Where's Agricola on your list? It's got my pick for best Eurogame ever made, and anyone who's comfortable with stuff like Power Grid and Puerto Rico ought to love it.

Power Grid is a lot of fun, and I say that as someone who normally doesn't care for its particular genre (economics-based games). It can take a long time to play, but since you're familiar with Twilight Imperium I'm guessing that's not a problem for you and your friends.

Agreed. Puerto Rico's okay, but it's pretty unforgiving if you make a mistake early in the game. Early mistakes are bad to make in Agricola too, but because you end up with a neat-looking farm at the end, it dulls the sting somewhat.

For a free online version of Dominion that you can play against other humans, go to boardgamearena.com. It's fast, pretty easy to find opponents, and even has a system in place that penalizes jerks who go AFK or who quit because they're losing.

Yeah, the rest of the cast of Batman & Robin somehow managed to shunt all the bad career vibes from that movie onto her and Chris O'Donnell. Maybe I'm remembering incorrectly, but I feel like that movie singlehandedly destroyed her reputation.

The Informant!!

Lindsay Lohan has killed for those parts. And they still refused to cast her.

Since this one won't win because it's too far down the page, I hereby award it the HarbingerOfDuh Best Caption trophy.

"I don't think I can hit that picture of Obama at this distance, Granddad!"

Ugh, did my original post really sound that pervy? I honestly didn't mean it that way—I was just observing that Moretz is Hollywood-star pretty, such that she seems like a poor casting choice for the role. Sissy Spacek's looks were (and are) a lot more unconventional, so I could buy her as Carrie much more readily

Why, what do you have in store for me, Mr. Invisible Handjob? ;)

Maybe they're just now realizing that maybe it wasn't a good idea to try to pass off the teenage equivalent of Scarlett Johansson as a dowdy, socially ostracized weirdo.

God help me, I laughed at this. Looks like it's time to take a break from misanthropy and start in on the self-hatred!

I'm curious to know if anyone here has read Lewis's Till We Have Faces, which in my opinion is his finest book. As with everything he wrote, it is suffused with his Christian worldview, but it's not nearly as overt as in the Narnia books or The Screwtape Letters. In fact, the skeleton of the story is actually the
