I really like this analysis. I'd never really given much thought to Harry as an independent character; I always saw him as more of a plot device: present mainly to intensify George's frustration with the path his own life had taken. It's easy to overlook how Harry might have felt about the leg up he received from his

Niagara Falls for me too, @avclub-be5dfeb671c12d7520445b9292e10d13:disqus . Heck, it's getting dangerously close to Niagara Falls for me right now, here in the office.

Chronicle was actually pretty good, though there was absolutely no reason for it to be found-footage. It might have been among my best of 2012 if it hadn't had the anchor around its neck of "we must find contrived reasons for the characters to be taping this stuff constantly." The climax, with its dozens of floating

I always vacillate between Ran and Rashomon when somebody asks this question. Last time it was Rashomon, but I think I have to go with Ran now.

That entire scene, where Lady Kaede reveals that she's instigated all the violence and discord as a form of vengeance, and then is brutally decapitated, is just perfection. Even more astounding is the fact that the vengeance detail was added by Kurosawa (it's not in King Lear) and that it actually improves the story.

Red Beard is criminally underappreciated. I'd put it at #3, behind only Ran and Rashomon.

Frickin' ETERNAL DARKNESS: SANITY'S REQUIEM. At the end, the spirits of all the characters who have died come back and team up to defeat the ancient evil once and for all. It's surprisingly affecting—over the course of the game you've watched them all die horrible deaths, but in the end you see that their sacrifices

I always thought it was more of a BWOMMM than a BWAAAMP.

Looked to me more like it was moss, not bird poop. So, more like Brad Pitt when he first wakes up in the morning, not Ted Nugent.
