Yeah, love Batman 89. Keaton's performance still has not been topped, in my opinion.

Yeah, what's up with that. You'd think a guy as dignified as Gene Hackman would know how to pronounce nuclear, but no. Is that how Reagan said it? Like, maybe that's why he said it that way, because the president was on TV all the time saying it?

I'm one of the few people on here who love IV. Don't know what it is about it. I mean, I get some of the criticisms, but they just don't register to me whenever I watch it. Still think it's a solid story. And Reeve, a little older and a little skinnier, looks his best as Superman in it. A shame we never got another

The Gene Hackman story I've poached from a friend of mine is quickly becoming my version of the Nichelle Nichols MLK story, but I'll mention it again:

Yeah, the past few years have given me more of an appreciation for part III than I've had in the past. The more I see of it the more solid I think it is. I've said it before on other threads, and I'll probably say it again, but Superman III is about as good a movie as it could possibly be given the elements it chooses

Oh man, Jackie Cooper — one of the MVPs of the original series. The look he gives in part III where Olsen's like, smile, is priceless. Makes me laugh every time.

Yeah, so much truly scary shit from childhood.

Cheer was good, but it looks like I'm in the minority in not being all that impressed with the plane scene in Returns.

Yeah, Secret History mentions Lucas's commentary at one point. If I remember right, Dude basically argues it's just another example of Lucas denying the changes made during the creative process in favor of the idea he had it figured out all along.

Yeah, that's what I remember. And I think there was also the possibility that The Other was somebody else entirely, too, with no relation to Luke, though I can't remember for sure. Some of the details haze together.

Thanks for the confirmation, Jordan.

Yeah, some of that artwork is shockingly bad. You know, you always hear comic strips were more prestigious than comic books, and if you look, the Star Wars comic strip always had really good art, starting from the beginning.

If I remember right, Secret History says Lucas financed Empire as well. Don't know if that's true or not. I assume it is, but I don't know for sure.

Jedi's interesting in that, growing up with the movies, I always just took its quality at face value, only to discover later its got something of a checkered reputation. Reading Secret History of Star Wars, I decided the movie was probably as good as it could be, all things considered, if it's going to tie up the

Yeah, I like the old Marvel series, what little I've read of it, and have a bit of an ambition to assemble a collection of the complete run. I was thinking about it the other day and I wondered what it was I liked so much about it and I realized it was seeing Star Wars through the prism of a Marvel comic from the 70s.

Suppose you've read Secret History of Star Wars? Read it over New Year's. It was riveting. Also a great insight into the creative process.

Never noticed that, but you're right. That's interesting.

POTENTIAL OLD SCHOOL MARVEL STAR WARS SPOILERS

Always liked the jacket outfit Luke's wearing in this comic and at the end of the original movie. Don't know why they didn't use it or something like it more often.

Agreed. In measured doses.
