McConaughey is on a winning streak. At least they didn't use hyper-hyperbole like Rabin and call it 'epic.' Bernie, Killer Joe and Magic Mike for MM. He is on a roll, and trying to do more meaningful parts. Wahlberg though? Not quite.

"Mark Wahlberg's epic winning streak…"
One major problem is once tv news anchors began becoming national celebrities, the next generation went into the biz for the wrong reasons. First was journalists who became famous for being legit journalists, which were on tv instead of on paper. Now it's people who want to be on tv, want to be celebrities, and actual…
Famous Star Trek fans are known to call in a favor to get a cameo in anything Trek related. Such as height of popularity Christian Slater showing up awkwardly in one of the original Trek cast movies.
I was just thinking about Carpenter recently. This is one of his I have not seen yet. It seems as if I should. It's such a shame he flamed out so bad around Ghosts of Mars time. Let's hope he has one last great film before he's done for good.
Ok, great final choice as it's, as you said, a goid baseball movie, and generally a well-made engaging film.
Heh, I wish. The punctuation was added by me, as emphasis for the question I was asking. The movie is much too stoic for unnecessary exclimation points.
Aw dudes, we already had a Dominican story with 'Sugar.' Now another movie on Dominican players?
Good call with original Bad News Bears. That would fit this list well.
Love the Natural, and everything you mentioned is spot on, but who doesn't have a soft spot for it. I would even be ok with Major League, that one holds up pretty well.
Oh I have plenty of love for Mr Baseball my friend, and that would make a fine choice for the Fri segment this week.
Agreed.
After the surprise of Bull Durham on Monday, I was trying to guess the rest of the week choices. While I did think of Sugar, I never would have guessed this one. I've never even heard of this one, and I love both basesall and stories of black people rising up to overcome. This movie will be in my queue by the end of…
'Sugar' is the only movie I know which used a TV on the Radio song for a sports montage.
Even when I didn't agree with his reviews and opinions (which was pretty often these days), Ebert's reviews were always thoughtful, engaging, and very well written. RIP good sir.
I really hope I haven't missed this at the local theater yet. I'm really anxious to see it, so much so that I'm avoiding reading this review. I think I'll watch Primer again before I see this. Primer was so good, it's hard to brlieve this is his first project since then.
"Narratively, Trance is questionable."
I hereby make the vow to make this the first Refn movie I see in the theater. That is all.
Angry? Who's angry? I love those articles for the pure comedy, and was gunuinely saying thanks for posting the link again. Christ
Oh me either, but I appreciate the link popping up from time to time soI don't have to search for it if I need a laugh.
If there is anyone around who has forgotten, or didn't see them the first time, I'm glad they will now know.
