Maybe I didn't make it clear. I didn't think the scenes leading up to the apology were good. But I do believe the apology itself was the best direction these characters could go. Even if her reasoning was shaky, at least we can finally move on from the tired argument between the two.

I don't pretend to know what fatherhood is like, but Oliver was making a conscious effort to be in his son's life. He was given an ultimatum, and decided being in his son's life was worth it. I understand that her contract limits her number of appearances, but honestly the writing behind it just feels lazy. Her brother was kidnapped and tortured for a week, and she's going to go on vacations? There's no compelling reason why she isn't there as emotional support for her brother through this trying time.

I really think this was a mediocre episode at best, because it draws a lot of false equivalences and never expands on any proper debate topics.
