Semi-tangential - Dave Mustaine's autobiography is mostly a waste of time, but there is an amusing anecdote of an abortive set-up date he had with Belinda Carlisle, which he screwed up large before it could even begin. I got a good laugh out of that one.

I only have the first album by both, and I thought the Go-Go's was much stronger.

I honestly loved this song as a kid.

Elvis Costello as an angry young man? Is this the Elvis Costello people were talking about when they said they didn't like rock music, but they did like Elvis Costello? Because I always found it an odd point to hear once, much less more than once. Like saying you didn't like Bulgarian turbofolk, but you do like Sting.

Most funny-in-a-different-way-than-they-were-going-for part of A Nightmare On Elm Street 3: dorky guy lives down the hall from teenage Jennifer Rubin, but "In my dreams, I'm the Wizard Master!"

I was born in the early 70's, and the pop culture I grew up with was like wall-to-wall baby boomer nostalgia porn. Obviously, it was awful. But with this (also, obviously awful) movie, I couldn't resist checking it out, because it was nostalgia porn mercilessly engineered for my generation. Not the first movie to do

Almost a whole page of Red Hot Chili Peppers hate. This is a glorious day.

Yeah, all that I get - I just think it was telling that he went right to Godfather II, and not the Kirshner-directed The Empire Strikes Back.

This is exactly why I enforce a music ban in my workplace. Nobody can agree on what to listen to and they end up settling for some shit station that plays this shit.

Yeah, I don't think "Are You Gonna Go My Way" is awful, I'm just sick to death of it.

I thought Elvis Costello was rock music for people who don't like rock music. I get that from the multiple times I used to hear people say "I don't really like rock music, but I do like Elvis Costello".

Also, Screamers had Jennifer Rubin when she was suuuuuuch a babe.

I do remember Weller on one of the late-night talk shows talking up Godfather II as a possible benchmark for a worthy sequel while promoting Robocop 2. Heh.

On a somewhat irrelevant tangent about cover songs with "American" in their title, I thought Rob Zombie's cover of "We're An American Band" injected the first bit of new life into that song that I can remember there being.

I don't think this song is truly awful, the way anything by like the Red Hot Chili Peppers is awful, but I am sick to fucking death of it.

What, the Beta wasn't good enough for you?

Bogus.

Jeez, CASD's boyfriend is going to be missing out on some pretty serious fun.

Is that "KLondike" thing for 55 really a thing? Like with ham radio guys or something?

Yeah, I watch on my PS3 and it's always been a crapshoot as to which discs will start up where you left off, so sometimes there's a bit of a shock, like the time I popped in The Fantastic Mr. Fox and it started it up in the middle of the closing credits from when I'd watched it a year before.
