I see two arcs in Fugazi's recording output. 1st is 7 Songs through Repeater as what MacKaye described as "the Stooges play Reggae" period and Steady Diet through Argument as their Art Rock period with each record becoming progressively more challenging to the listener until The Argument offered more consolidation.

Secret Cinema, After the Astronauts, and Recovery is a Difficult and Rewarding Process are my top 3 with Late for LARP deserving an honorable mention.

What makes some of these unwatchable is the realtiy show cadence they all speak in when the show does a "interview" cutaway to explain something techinical. I used to think "Oh that guy's a little nervous but it will smooth out in a few weeks." But they all talk like that for years on end.
