The UK is also where Sienfield was a flop but the Larry Sanders shows was a (relative) hit.  They started showing Sienfield with Larry Sanders afterwards but soon realised people prefered Sanders and swapped them.  Then Sienfield basically got dropped.  Brits seem to like anti heroes in comedy.

I could never get in to Saxondale.  It may have been that it came after the seminal Alan Partridge and I felt a little disappointed by it compared to that.

I was shocked to see he was only 65.  I remember watching "Pie in the Sky" and thinking he must be well into his 50's then.  Since it was nearly 20 years ago that means he was only in his mid forties.  Fun fact, he played a computer analyst working for the Ministry of Defence in Whitehall in the thriller 'Bird of

I will always love Dirty Rotten Scoundrels.  Not only is it pant wettingly funny but I watched it with my mother once.  We had very different taste in comedy but we both howled at it.  She passed on not long ago but I will always remember us sitting and watching a comedy together we both actually enjoyed so much.

Julian fellows was in it.

When I heard he had died the most recent role of his that popped into my head was his turn in Morse.  To have grown up with the Good Life and then see his wonderfully slimey Don was great.  Showed what a good actor he was.

The decision to make him innocent rather than guilty surely changes the whole complexion of the film.  Whilst mob justice should be considered bad regardless of guilt, his revenge turns from the actions of a wronged man trying to see them get a little taste of their own medicine to a scum bag who just wants to see

Not The Nine O'Clock News was my Monty Python.  Too young to have watched Python I remember that every Tuesday my school friends and I would quote the previous night's show ad-infinitum.  I always remember Savage the racist policeman:

"it’s one of the film’s many inspired sick jokes that a German killer is easily the movie’s most racially sensitive man".  Not sure it's a 'sick' joke and I have yet to be convinced it wasn't simply a case of Tarratino wanting his current favorite actor to play the lead.  But I have yet to see the film

I was kind of disappointed in the last one.  Not because it was a bad film but because they had to jump straight in with all the crew together and Kirk commanding the Enterprise.  I always felt these characters must have had interesting careers before they all met up.  Scotty starting out as a lowly grease monkey on

The best is Embryo by Black Sabbath.  That song is 30 seconds long so I can do it twice and still listen to the last 10 seconds.

Do the Simpsons writers even care about its international audience anymore?  I know this show is made for US audiences but the show is popular all over the world.  I'm from the UK and we don't have this Portlandia show (or if it is then it must be on a very obscure cable channel).  The Simpson have always had American

Actually I should have really posted this under the Skyfall review.  Not really the place for it here.

I saw the new one at the weekend and I must say I was a little disapointed.  You shouldn't read too much into these films but I just couldn't get why the baddie was going to so much trouble to achieve his goal.  He had his own island, beautiful girlfriend, lots of money and yet he seemed to be determined to throw it
