"the ending feels random, as if the film missed a reel"
Whoa there… The Thin Red Line is a stone cold masterpiece, narration and all. It's one of the singularly most haunting things I've ever had the pleasure of seeing on the big screen and quite frankly, any audience that was laughing at it or felt like walking out only displayed their remarkable ignorance.
"Video just doesn't LOOK as good as film stock. Or at least most films shot on DV don't."
Same to you tabernacle. And as it's my birthday in about 8 hours, I'll classify it as my first birthday card, too.
Well in that case, I shall read it.
Books of his wot I have read:
Saturday
"In his earlier novel Saturday, McEwan whittled events down to a single day, yet infused the proceedings with thoroughly researched ruminations on neuroscience that never entirely interrupted the momentum of what was, at heart, a domestic thriller."
"Saturday was the wake-up call. It was so bad I thought it must be a parody of something I couldn't quite put my finger on—the oh-so-correct and upright and beautiful family who eat so healthily and hold such perfect opinions and listen to music for all the right reasons, etc. It was sobering to realize McEwan really…
I just hope he got a good mark for the damn thing.
Ocarina of Time is one of the greatest games ever made.
I agree with that sentiment. Remakes aren't inherently evil, and remakes of schlocky cops and robbers films, when done by the types involved in The Departed, can occasionally elevate things to a higher level.
Shit, I was playing both and listening to that album too. But I wasn't in college.
Yeah, the Green albums just too good to be included in the 'shouldn't have happened' list. Dammit, it's just a great album.
My favorite is the demented jeep driving in the opening bottom right panel. Looks like immense fun.
"Tata's and bush."
Poor Shakespeare. He's so much better than Flash Forward allows him to be. Having said that, if I saw him in the street, I may have to bellow the line at him from afar. I just don't don't know if I could help myself.
Never even heard of Mannix before, but based on those opening credits, I'm in.
Oh, that was for Tabernacle, by the way…
Good opening credits: Dexter. True Blood. Firefly. Quantum Leap. The A-Team. Northern Exposure. Father Ted. The Wire.
