I, perhaps completely irrationally, love the Phantom adaptation. It has that "show within a show" sort of thing going for it, but I find it delightful in every respect. Also "The Point of No Return" is hot. Last time I give Gerard Butler credit for that, but no really, it's smoking.

@avclub-4b044fdb14ec08a7c842703302d3738f:disqus I was just watching the episode today where Ted misses the flight to Chicago / the NYC Marathon, and it ends with Ted saying he was supposed to stay in New York so he could meet the mother, with a clip of him at the alter. So I'd say, yes?

I thought it was a bear trap of some variety.  The mystery thing on the ground!

That bugged me too.  Marshall would certainly know better and get a lawyer to draw up his will, since a) he's not that type of lawyer, and b) he would know that wills can be fairly complicated documents.  There's just, like, no way he doesn't have a lawyer friend who could draw it up.

Oh thank god, I thought I was alone.  I found the Ann Romney bit *painful* and way, way too long.

"They look like she’s always trying to grab a feather in a wind tunnel, ending with it flying out of her reach as her hands slowly come down in defeat; she never catches anything." Oliver, thank you for both the morning laugh and for so wonderfully articulating what's going on in those solos.  So repetitive! Remember

Late to the party here, but I just watched the episode (this isn't appointment TV, obviously).  I think why they didn't go that route is that there aren't too many shits being given about Uma Thurman right now to make all the fawning they do over the Rebecca Duvall character believable.  They'd have to just excise

Weinerslave, who wears pads anymore?  I mean, sure some people do, but I would really doubt Rachel would.  And WHOA on the size of that pad that it would be visible through her pants, even if they're tight. I mean, that's some 1950s pad-with-garters style shit right there if it's that visible.  But that said, good

It wasn't just you; her mascara was running from the water from all the broken bottles.

There's something … off about the rampant commercialization surrounding this book / movie.  Like, a nail polish collection based on the series? A mall tour? How does that jive in any way with what the book was about? Aren't you supposed to feel contempt at the pretty-ing up scenes in The Capitol? I don't get it, kids

Nothing too crazy, only in that Donna was really positive in her review and feelings on the episode, whereas Sepinwall seems to have hated it immensely.  Does the "I'm a woman and get where Robin is coming from/what she's feeling" have an impact on overall enjoyment of this episode? I could also be completely talking

I don't want to start something here, but I wonder if there's anything to how women watched this episode as opposed to how men viewed it.

I'm with you, Donna - loved it.  I too was thinking about how they were going to work around the infertility as I was watching, but instead of being annoyed with the reveal, it just felt devastating.
