"The breezy montage of Simmons' morning routine has a lot more personality than the usual S.H.I.E.L.D. scene"

Besides Ezra and his horrible hair, I really liked this. Hopefully he'll get the Ahsoka treatment as time goes on but he was terrible here, hyper-competency is a horrible sin for a supposed audience surrogate character.

Not to mention that the music and visual style of the original is also pretty amazing. Utopia without the vibrant colors(that yellow) or that odd score is just wrong.

That little blurb, or something similar, is why I didn't initially watch the show. The actual show is nothing like what that synopsis implies.

I hope they make significant changes to this version. With the original already being pretty fantastic I have a hard time caring about this.

This episode was an obvious step up in quality from the pilot. The Gordon/Bullock banter felt more natural, the plot and villains were zany and weird, The Penguin was still a delight. Even Lil Catwoman ended up feeling right at home in this universe.

I can't wait for the Ward Redemption Arc.They seemed to go out of their way last year to make it impossible for him to be good again but they are going to try it anyway. It is going to be painful to watch.

Outside of the Fitz/Simmons situation and Agent Traitor McWristcutter, this was an incredibly weak opening. There are now so many characters, almost all boring, that nothing is given enough time.
This is probably why the Fitz thing works so well because he is isolated from the McGuffin chase and his narrative is

If that scene didn't exist I think I might've had a more positive impression of the pilot as a whole. But, man, that scene showed up and soured the rest of the episode for me.

This wasn't the worst thing in the world, which is something at least.

And yet still no Sky High sequel. Sometimes I think you don't like me or something, Hollywood.

So, for the first time, I found Irisa and her alien-magic-plot the most interesting part of the episode.
I'm not sure if that is a positive or not.

This is already the best CSI show, they should just stop now before they ruin it.

As the offspring of a white woman and a black man from the 70s: Terrible way to start a post on such a subject, mind numbingly terrible.

Yeah, this is partly why I didn't find Christie and the other Votanis Collective wannabes as "wrong" as the review and some others think, DJ Alak Tarr is basically as much a human as a Castithan(culturally speaking). We have seen a whole heck of a lot of the aliens adopting human culture but little of the reverse.

I think that is why the line is so great, on top of it being humorous it also perfectly fits the character and the the divide between her and her DJ husband.

So after watching the first episode of the season I slowly fell behind schedule and have only now finally caught up. Thoughts on the preceding batch of episode:

It is so he can say: "Penguins eat fish!" as he kills Jada Pinkett Smith's character(who they named Fish surely for that exact moment).

No The Future's Void by EMA or A Dotted Line by Nickel Creek? For shame.
