I think maybe she'll begin one of the episodes (maybe the first episode of the finale?) just having learned how to airbend, and then discover that learning to airbend did not solve all of her problems as the Avatar. That could be a compelling episode plotline.

The "Welcome to Republic City" game says "he passed" at 66, and that the Avatar Spirit was reincarnated into a young water tribe girl.  But I thought I remembered seeing that Aang died of natural causes.

I don't think @avclub-935f361fa2c753a8b94f28f3f94914cf:disqus  actually thought "Zuko Alone" was a bad episode.  I think he was sarcastically bringing it up, since it's arguably not an episode that advanced the plot, but it's still amazing.
