I also thought about that.  If the visions were solely to warn Korra about Tarrlok, then, number one, they were pretty useless by the time she finally saw them, and number two, why did she start getting them around Amon?

About the metal cell, it has to be either pure (if it were more of that platinum, that might be an interesting insight into Tarrlok) or Tarrlok has to know that Korra will be able to bend out of it eventually (since she knows metal is bendable by earthbenders, it would only be a matter of time until she figured out…
