La Reina del Sur was good, and very popular. Correo de Inocentes dealt with drug mules, and features several of the same actors as Metastasis did. Both of these novelas have female protagonists. There's also El Patron del Mal, which is my personal favorite. They're not Breaking Bad, but are still quite entertaining…
