If you dig around a bit, you'll find that 3D conversion was the absolute least of the changes forced upon CLASH OF THE TITANS. It could have been an interesting movie.

To be fair, that's my preferred viewing method at all times. Screw new movies, and screw audiences.
The post-conversion job on THOR is legendarily terrible.
Two points: The live-action in AVATAR was shot in true, binocular 3D, not converted, so that's at least one reason it looks better. Ditto for HUGO, and as noted below, PROMETHEUS and LIFE OF PI.
I half expected that cargo plane to end up driving all the way to Russia.
Agreed. A lot of my friends are saying they enjoyed STID "for the rollercoaster ride" but good rollercoasters don't spend half their time actively reminding you of other, better rollercoasters.
But imagine if ARGO had ended with FURIOUS 6's version of the airstrip chase.
Also, the typography is the word "Furious" superimposed over the number 6. So it could also be read "6 Furious" or my choice, "Fur6us".
It took a modicum of intelligence to realize that any excuse to bring Michelle Rodriguez back to the franchise was a good excuse. We should be thankful they didn't OVER-think it.
If you do check out POPPY HILL in Japanese, I think you'll find that the songs work much better in context.
The thing about LAPUTA is that it's signature Miyazaki in all aspects… except for Sheeta, who is uncharacteristically passive. Fortunately, Captain Dola (and her awesome childhood-portrait painting) pick up some of the girl-power slack.
PORCO ROSSO wrecks me every time. Both the flashback and the finale.
Time to switch to LAPUTA, CASTLE IN THE SKY.
The only dub I recommend unreservedly is the French track for PORCO ROSSO, because Jean Reno is such perfect casting in the title role.
I love the repeated image of the younger sister running pell-mell, tripping and falling smack on her face, then just getting up and running some more. The resilience of childhood, right there.
Mark Waid's "Birthright" ought to be the last word on Smallville Clark. I feel like it gets overlooked a lot.
The best readings of Clark ensure that he never actually lies to anyone. "Are there any more at home like you?" "Not really, no…"
@avclub-1f027eb7dd7744e38194783df63d59e2:disqus , make the next Supes episode you see "The Late Mr. Kent."
Whoever loses, Nasim Pedrad wins.
He probably found out that the band was expected to pay for their own drinks.
