Archie, what I'm asking is: were left- and right-eye perspectives of the actors recorded simultaneously on the stage? Because *that's* stereo. Anything else would involve post-conversion, even if binocular elements were generated for the "3D" CGI.

Say what you will about Paul W. S. Anderson (he's married to Jovovich, he doesn't care what you say), but he's one of the only directors working now who knows how to shoot native 3D.

Thanks for the inside detail, Archie, but wasn't the movie still shot and composed 'flat' and then converted to stereo? It sounds like the '3D' you're talking about was just the CG animation.

It's important to note that he's talking about 3D *conversions* here. As noted in the article there's still a lot of confusion among the general public as to what's real and what's fake and why it makes a difference.

I was with him right up to Mars Needs Moms. Good 3D, maybe, but terrible movie.
