Ahahahahaha, The Bell Jar and I, The Jury? You must be having quite the feminism whiplash.

Salem's Lot is the scariest King book for me and I think ranks high generally among fans, I think only Misery and Pet Sematary come close. Have fun! MWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Skeleton Crew has more meat on its bones and probably a few scarier stories (ugh, Gramma) but Night Shift is, I dunno, purer? That's not the right word, it's more like Night Shift is The Clash and Skeleton Crew is London Calling.

I'm a huge Steeply/Marathe conversation fan (and yes, it keeps going) but even with that bias I'm comfortable saying it has better sections later on. The standard line is give the book until the Eschaton game so I'd suggest that. In general, don't take breaks. Like the good Dr said, IJ benefits from continual reading,

I'm just going to walk away now before I explode. King's Dark Tower revisions are my personal Star Wars revisions, I cannot rationally express how upset they make me.

Wow, I never thought of that comparison. I think The Hobbit connects a lot better to the work following it but yeah, both follow a fairly simple character through adventures that definitely don't carry the same weight as later novels in the same world. So is Tolkein's Huck Finn Gandalf?

Hell yes Bart the Bear. Sorry Anthony Hopkins and Alec Baldwin, we all know who should've gotten top billing in that movie.

"but I never get the sense that he's doing it merely for the juvenile
thrill of pissing people off. Or more precisely, he does want to piss
people off, but as a means to an end rather for its own sake."

@avclub-d51f8f228dbea3e6f3e6421385707f68:disqus man, aren't we all.

Kindergarten Cop is an underappreciated movie — yes, it's Schwarzenegger literally playing for the kiddies instead of hard-R stuff like the Terminators, but they put in a fair amount of menacing violence in there at the end. Dominik's dad (and his evil grandma) are strong, disturbing villains for a kid.

As my fellow Miller suggests below, Fraser is perfect in the role. Maybe he doesn't initially suggest a guy with a crazed libido, but that makes sense, because he's subliminated it into that damn monkey. And he has a lot of fun being possessed by that monkey later on.

Hey, screw you DiClaudio! Monkeybone is awesome and deserves re-evaluation.

Fried Green Tomatoes? The secret's in the sauce…

I remember reading somewhere that no respectable person of the male persuasion can call himself a man without seeing The Godfather, which is hyperbolic chauvinism and all, but I think that Clemenza scene sort of gives it a ring of truth, more so than anything except the obvious Don Corleone "BE A MAN!" speech. This is

Shalhoub and Janney are so wonderful in this, aren't they? Janney is very much the second banana to Driver and never tries to overshadow but she still brings her daffiness while tamping it down to an appropriate level. And yeah, her physical reactions are perfect.

Having this posted in new Disqus is powerful enough to make new Disqus not completely terrible. Holy cats what a great idea.

Heh, this is exceedingly easy to read in Odenkirk's bluff hail-fellow-well-met bullshit voice.

Don't forget HT, her disdain for everyone (especially Walter) was hilarious.

King of Arms? Is this some bizarre Radiohead reference? Did someone think Men At Arms was not sufficiently royal?
