What you need to do is show him Taken first, which proves Liam Neeson is a good guy. Then when he hears his voice in Ponyo he'll be all set.

My sense of humor is quite taken with food puns. And come on, what about Aardman movies? "East of Edam" on Wallace's bookshelf always makes me smile.

"What emerges is a vision of popular music as the product of a complex combination of landscapes and cultures"

I've caught a few episodes of Switched At Birth and liked the show quite a bit, and she's good in it. The only problem is I can't not want something horrible to happen to that McCoy bastard.

Bad movie reviews are fun but I take pleasure in reviews that tear apart bullshit documentaries, especially when it's coming from a formal and journalistic point of view rather than disagreement with the movie's politics. Nice job here.

Red Eye! Now there is a fun little movie. Sort of disappointed it didn't kick off a wave of Cillian-Murphy-is-a-rom-com-leading-man-oh-wait-no-he's-a-psycho movies.

I threw on Enter Sandman a year or so back after not listening to it in ages. It wasn't bad at all and some stuff (The God That Failed) was a pleasant surprise. I think its real problem is that for the first time, the band put out an album with singles and album tracks and the album tracks are mostly filler. You

Origins don't mean much when you're named "Gaylord" and can't throw a spitball.

@avclub-85d8ce590ad8981ca2c8286f79f59954:disqus it took me years but I've come around to your take. The problem is the tone and feel of the song are extremely pro-war, I think they were too successful at mimicking that for their own good. I'm sort of surprised no enterprising country artist has covered it as such.

@avclub-d218579a66992cae412fb54156448c6f:disqus  my take on the two has always been there's a pretty damn good album to be made by cherry-picking. I'd have to listen to them again to really do it, but here's a rough idea of songs (no order):

Point of odor: Ronin.

That did stand out. A buddy of mine was an MP in Iraq and he is extremely critical of the military's recruitment of him and use of his service — the quote implies to me, though, that his training could kick in and he'll start killing people, remorselessly at that. More context would definitely be useful.

The landscape knows what it did!

He deserved that Oscar! I mean, he had a boner and all, that must've hurt like hell.

GOODMAN (narrating): Things were looking up for the Mannings. Eli had won a second ring, Peyton was off to a phenomenal start, and Archie could bask in the glory of his sons' accomplishments. But trouble was coming, from an unexpected place…

That illustration is sort of bleak — Coach Taylor And The Terrible, Horrible, No Good Very-Bad Day.

I feel like grammar textbooks should have a small entry explaining why "them" is the irregular but correct definite adjective for "titties."

@avclub-1d04064d540beb34e0cc414561bc6f35:disqus that thread never fails to cheer me up, the cumulative power of hundreds of idiotic yells eventually makes you laugh.

@avclub-92399b30096fc966aa817277948c535a:disqus yeah, I don't know anything about Vann but I like this kind of article. More, please!
