Breezy as heck
I started watching The West Wing in December and finished all seven seasons by February, so I know what you mean. One episode at a time is gonna be difficult (cept toward the end it got kinda… not as good). It's sometimes a bumpy ride, and can be very heavy handed and pretentious, but it's too fun to

Title Easter Egg
The title of episode one was "Seven Thirty-Seven", four was "Down", ten was "Over," and tonights was "ABQ," and all the aforementioned episodes featured the creepy pink bear in the black-and-white pool. Kinda cool, eh?

I'm late to the game, but…
Does anyone remember all those weird diamond commercials from Philadelphia? I specifically remember Robbins Rocks, with this weird bearded guy showing off a diamond in his beard. And it all went to this creepy du-wop sound, at least while it was on the radio. I think it was always most

Favorite episode and character
Oddly enough, my favorite character is hardly featured in my favorite episode. Ken Marino as Ron is just amazing, with his various humiliation getting worse and worse every week, peaking in the penultimate episode with his full-bottle-of-alcohol induced vomiting when his sort-of date was

Absolutely. On the retarded 100 point scale (and no, it's not that retarded), I give this coverage a 97. And I'm a stickler for Cannes coverage.

Hint: An AV Club interview with the legendary straight man in this film went up this week.

No, I'll just say it. It's Another Stakeout, which has become a rediscovered classic as of late. So was the other quoted post.

Man, Clifford is the best movie. What's the name of his character? …I wanna say… Mason. No, wait, it's Uncle Martin.

I can't resist, one more.
-Cover Me! I'm taking a bath!

My favorite. Finish this quote
-You don't even like kids!
-Yes I do! I have a nephew who's just crazy about me!
-Oh yeah, what's his name?
-I wanna say…_____

I don't think you are, but
if you are comparing this film to Jackie Brown, I can't wait. I feel like Tarantino's past two (or three, if you count Kill Bill as two) films have been grand experiments in cinema in a way. And I absolutely love them both. In fact, I've never seen a Tarantino movie that hasn't blown me

Totally agree. And How to be Good is a lesser read look at our own ethical hypocrisy (sort of), but I kind of have mixed feelings about it. Anyone read his recent Slam, continuing the 2007 onslaught of entertainments on unplanned childbirth. It's decent, but kinda thin. Simple. His best were About a Boy and High

Read This Post (and these books)
I don't know if this is the kind of book you're looking for, but Jeanette Winterson's Written on the Body has provoked a lot of great discussion from my friends, specifically on the nature of gender and sexuality, and the presumptions we as an audience make about them.

I have to be honest
I skimmed the actual review portion of the Von Trier review, because this movie sounds so utterly insane that i don't want any actual information on it. This is the kind of movie that I get excited about. I read everything around the plot portion of the review, and I suspect that in a few months,

Video Press Coverage
Does anyone know of any site or channel that'll be showing the awards at the end? I kinda wanna see Tarantino make his acceptance speech (cause Cannes loves that Tarantino).

Drop Dushku, save money
I really wish the show would save cash by dropping Dushku and hiring a cheaper, better actress. They'd save (and be able to spend) money on production, and perhaps hire a less famous, better, cheaper actress. Or make Ballard the lead

If we're talking about psychological Westerns,
then I have to mention Arthur Penn's 1958 The Left Handed Gun, which was a brilliant psychoanalysis of Billy the Kid and the western world. Anyone else see this?

Stuff N Fluff, She and Sorkin actually dated for a while. In fact, he based the Christian actress character in Studio 60 on her, so even though they didn't overlap on the show, they still hit it off.
