Or he just didn't like the song.

Big difference between "lyrical snippets" and taking the lyrics and chord progression as well.

Or how they stole their entire sound from The Fall.

I agree. I don't know about "bastardized and cheapened" but it's really badly recorded and sounds like the kind of shit a high school kid records on a tape deck(or whatever the modern equivalent is, pro tools? is that still a thing?) and then forces all his friends to listen to while they smile through gritted teeth

Wow, I never would have guessed that the AVClub had so many intellectual property lawyers among their readership!

You'll never hate The Cars as much as Devo hates The Cars.

All I could think while watching that(very good) episode of Bob's Burgers was "Sifl and Olly already did it."

Yep, it was a nearly pitch-perfect recreation of a 50's/60's/70's era pulp-detective novel.

When I was a kid I thought he was saying "Fraggle."

A large amount of early Beatles songs are about fuckin'. They just didn't say "fuckin'."

In fairness to the dads and uncles of this thread, and I know this isn't the reason for their issues with it, but satellite radio is compressed all to hell sounds like ass.

Oldies stations have all migrated to the coasts of the Carolinas and Georgia and changed their name to "Beach Music."

It's weird you mention the phrasing, because I was listening to Bringing it all Back Home recently and yeah, that record is a master-class in "there is no reason in hell those words should have fit in that meter, and yet here we are."

"About the singing: Yes, Dylan’s voice is a suitcase that’s been kicked down a few too many streets, but the leather is smooth enough, and it’ll still hold whatever feelings Bob needs it to. "

Mine is "The Motown Song" by Rod Stewart.

Hahahahahahahahaha. I was in 8th or 9th grade when Dookie came out and my friend's-older-brother's-girlfriend was already bitching about Green Day selling out because they left Lookout Records(and probably because us dorky-ass motherfuckers were listening to it).

I had a Weezer shirt when I was in HS that was a faux-airbrushed picture of them dressed up as Elvis. I'm also pretty sure Matt Sharp was in the jumpsuit for at least part of the set(maybe just the encore? It's been a while) when I saw them back then.

Papa Johns does brisk business because in large swaths of the country it's the "best" of three shitty options.

And X.Y.U. and Fuck You under the Pumpkins entry.
