Mural gag?  Have I been missing something this whole time?

Can you imagine the shitstorm when he leaves?  I, for one, will be sad.

Ive been watching it for the first time as I buy the DVDs for my girlfriend, and mostly, Im just struck by how bland it is.  Most of the jokes are groaners, many of the main characters have unbelievably unatttractive personalities, but I find it too slight and inoffensive to get worked up over.  I'd probably be more

I work in academic libraries, and you would be absolutely amazed at the number of people who make a comfortable living writing peer-reviewed studies of how they were unpopular in high school.

Booooo!

@avclub-09f700cd7fcae2e9f63ea6cdb7aa76b0:disqus I feel like a lot of my …lack of hating Juno has to do with the fact that I totally missed the "honest to blog" line when I saw it.  I can see that alone accounting for how insufferable people find it.

Reality's very own, hands down.

Ive got your Jar of Love right here!

ZOIBY WANNA BUY ON MARGIN!

I fast forwarded through all but the first few minutes.  It was really important to me to be sure that it was an actual 22 minute episode.

And she even said she was sorry for her behavior.  The usual cop out these days is conditionally apologizing "if I offended anyone."

The similarities are significant, right down to both planets taking human form to communicate, but the vibe I get from each book couldn't be more different.

The phrase that sticks with me the most, and what I vainly try to use to pitch the book to people, is his example telegram "grandmother dead, funeral Wednesday" and all the facts implied by that phrase.  It hasn't inspired anyone to read the book, but it sure does make me feel like a smarty-pants.

Crafty wenches.  I knew that was a snipe hunt!

His Master's Voice is easily one of my favorite books. Never has the complete impossibility of communicating with aliens been so much fun.

Have you read "His Master's Voice"?  I really enjoy Lem's unyeilding but incredibly well reasoned arguments for why alien life would be unknowable.  Its refreshing to see, since so much sci fi is ethusiastically, or at least unapologetically, campy in that regard.

This book is one of my favorite ever.  I saw the Soderburgh version and thought it was ok.  I havent seen this one.

Shes a brick …Hawk.

I stand on land.

That actually sounds like it could be funny, if not necessarily tasteful.
