Isn't this whole site's raison d'etre  the establishment and discussion of byzantine rules, standards and practices for consuming entertainment?  I do see how he is coming down on himself pretty hard, but making our own rules and sticking to them does appear to be part of the fun.

I liked it.  Its pretty pulpy if youre not 12, but I like Crichton's attention to fake scientific detail.  Thats what sold me on The Andromeda Strain too.
