So the theme of bad fathers has already been commented on but I noticed upon rewatch, the quick succession of scenes at the end about brothers, which I thought was pretty cool. You get in quick succession: Mako telling off Bolin, Tenzin bitching about Bumi, sky transition, Tarrlok and Amon's bittersweet reunion. It's

Do you read stuff elsewhere about this

How about have Korra learn about non-benders by running around in the slums for a bit, take on the bending mafia in a fairly exciting manner to establish her commitment to non-benders, take down Tarrlok, then rally benders and non-benders alike behind her to set off a counter revolution against Amon? Wouldn't it be a

@avclub-68c81a145181a6b3092221895a3fd1a9:disqus Yes, I thought that exchange with the kiss on the cheek was essentially both parties agreeing to break up. But the dialogue needed a bit of tweaking to put the whole shipping debacle to rest. Instead of "I'm sorry things got so messed up between us", it could have been

I saw the non-bender vs bender storyline as essentially a misdirection so the writers could hit us with a villain we would never see coming. (Seriously, Tarrlok and Amon as brothers is freaking out there.) I also saw the Asami storyline as setting up a similar misdirection, ie. trying to get us to freak out about

Fandom has a tendency to take things to the extreme. So Mako, because he does jerky things, is a jerk forever and ever. Or he has a freudian excuse for always having to be in control, therefore he should get a free pass when he falls in love with someone not his girlfriend. Or Mako's not the biggest jerk around (look

Yeah, I was trying to think of what the writers could possibly do to set up conflict in season 2 now that many of the good ideas have been used up.

Fighting to protect people from having their bending taken away involuntarily doesn't really equate fighting to keep only benders in power.

Add Iroh so it's 3 partners for you, Korra, and none for Mako. Bye.

I doubt Bryke ever planned for the bender vs non-bender conflict to be anything other than a misdirection in this miniseries. They might pick it up in the second series but it will probably be less satisfying because of the fractured nature of planning season by season. I say Nickelodeon execs are idiots for not

The show is not a Joss Whedon production, therefore it sucks!
