Really liked some of the writing tonight. A lot (obviously not all) scenes that could have ended in melodramatic cliche (Tom leaving fundraiser, Tom admitting he's seeing someone, Ellis' gambit) were undercut with people acting like people — Tom's boyfriend smiling as he left, the sportsgay laughing, Eileen shutting…

I'm worried that next week we'll actually find out what "Heaven on Earth" is about, and I won't be able to have fun speculating. I always wonder what it and the poster I see for "Billy: The Musical" are about (not Billy Elliot, which can also be seen sometime. but Billy appears to be a Tom and Julia joint).

In addition to being funny, this movie is pretty sweet, and earns its character development for the most part. It reminded me of Romy & Michelle's High School Reunion.

He's like Wahlberg. You need to play to his cro-magnon strengths. Channing excels at self-loathing and realizing he's not smart enough to figure a way out of his jam.

Drives me crazy. It's such an unforced error, on their part.
