So…the AV Club has nothing to say about the cartoonist Richard Thompson? Was he just local to the DC area? If so, the rest of you don't know what you missed. Very funny, very talented, and a hell of a nice guy.

Bad day for cartoonists - Richard Thompson ("Cul du Sac") also died today.
Does that make the Tooth Fairy a socialist?
Most everything you said about the Democrats being the party of racism is true. Why did you stop the narration at 1964? Things have changed in the last 40+ years. What party did Strom Thurmond join, after the election in 1948? (And why would he leave the party that was relentlessly against Civil Rights?) What…
No mention of who desegregated the army to begin with - Southern Democrat Harry Truman? Yes, Everette Dirksen mobilized the reps in the Senate to pass the Civil Rights Act (proposed by Kennedy and Johnson). All the Republicans? Better not let Barry Goldwater hear you say that.
So what were the mortifying lows?
Om Shanti Om - Certainly one of the best comedy/tragedy/gangster/reincarnation musicals I've ever seen.
"…like ending the greatest thriller of all time with a doctor clinically diagnosing its killer." If that is a reference to Psycho, go back and watch it again. Hitchcock is too good to allow the Doctor the last word.
I remember thinking "Why isn't he dead? You bleed to death if you slit your wrists, why not when you take the whole hand off."
I remember when this came out, the film critic for the Washington Post went all in for this movie - the only critic in town that didn't hate it.
Since Orson Wells is dead, I would go with Tom Waits. It's my dream one day to get a GPS that not only sounds like Tom Waits but would give directions like he would. "Turn left at the Dry Cleaners that used to be the bar where the hookers hung out back when I worked at the Chinese restaurant that one summer."
You got a problem with potatoes?
"The biggest thing working against it, though, is that unlike the early 1990s, when Reed’s book was released, the internet is now a way of life." Believe it or not, some people still prefer actual books. Maybe one day books will be hip again, like vinyl records.
Hey, I know - add "I've Got You (I Feel Good)" by James Brown, or "Born To Be Wild" by the 60's band Steppenwolf to every non-Woody Allen comedy made since the '70s that doesn't already have them. I think both movies would benefit.
I heard "That's The Way I Always Heard It Should Be" by Carley Simon by a wedding band before the reception.
How about "Carry On My Wayward Son"?
Good. I need more zany in my life.
I remember the recovery time as a few weeks (it was a while ago). Is it worth even doing? Well, if you are sure you don't want children, then the answer would be yes.
"What's in your wallet, motherfucker?"
Great…now I have the theme to that Wine Cooler ad that Willis used to do running through my head.
