Not really - it was a bunch of sand dunes near a beach in Sydney. They were pretty dramatic, but swing the camera around 180 degrees and you would have seen the city skyline.

For me, it's One Froggy Evening all the way. It's like a Kafka short story with ragtime music. And a dancing frog.

A number of kids in my music class were introduced to it through Ren and Stimpy.

Ellie Kemper is just delightful. We need a bit of delight after this depressing past week. Yay Kimmy!

Well, suburbia.

Life on Mars was the one that really destroyed me last Monday. I mostly held it together before that. Not once I reached the first chorus.

It helps with the pain. A lot. Listen to it right through. The last two will make you cry like a baby, but push through it. Honestly, this has been my daily routine for the past week, and I'd be in a lot worse a place otherwise.

That was a great era for fans of Ewan Macgregor's schlong. See also The Pillow Book.

I was pretty underwhelmed by the movie too, but the soundtrack is solid, and I'm so glad they put together a decent band for it rather than just going the obvious faux-Bowie route.

I saw this during a brief period in the late 90's when a well-known newspaper film critic was mentoring me (it didn't work; it just turned me off film criticism for life). My recollection of it is that it was pretty enjoyable until it continued about 40 minutes longer than it should have done.

The thing that made Homer great in the early years is that he went ahead and followed the crazy impulses that the rest of us have the self-control to avoid. There was a strange element of wish fulfilment.

Plus, Bart the Mother felt like such an obvious retread of Marge Be Not Proud. I know they'd already started repeating themselves by this point, but that was the first episode where I really felt they'd run out of stories.

The Ron Howard/Billy Baldwin/Kim Basinger episode is the first point at which it became clear to me that the show might never be great again.

I actually don't mind this episode. It's a twilight-of-the-classic-period work for sure, but there are far worse examples of that.
