In defense of District 9's (as it turns out) conservative runtime, I will say that it only seemed as though it were three and a half hours long.
I didn't care for District 9. It was a too-thinly-veiled criticism of Apartheid. We need to see a three and a half hour snorefest with bad CGI to know that racism is a bad thing?
