When the article title is this misleading and the content is a warmed over meme explanation… I can only assume there's a coded message in here from AV Club writers being held hostage.

The worst part is these assholes presumably did this stone sober.

Lord, you guys are such a bummer. I love live-streamed festivals.

But the scanner is totally optional. It's a secondary mechanic that provides an in-character delivery system for expanding Metroid's mythology, avoiding the immersion breaking pause-screen exposition of something like Mass Effect's data logs.

Frankly, he should stop being such an asshole. This kind of devotion to quality at the expense of right-this-minute satisfaction (the only kind that matters) is why this fellow should die, painfully and immediately.

To sum up: cat tongue synthesizer = weird. Wrapping your tongue in Saran Wrap and giving your cat a staticky lick = obvious.

Sort of like telling a director his movie sucks and he should kill himself based on one trailer sounds kind of harsh?

It's all conjecture at this point, since this project has been in development so long. Doesn't seem worth raising arms about the potential miscasting of a character that hasn't been confirmed, in an adaptation that has already (potentially) made a pretty big move towards open-minded and inclusive casting decisions.

Am I missing something? Idris Elba cast as the lead, but merging the confusing mess of Susanna Dean's origin and story into a new character who is not black "just amounts to whitewashing"? Why so sensationalist these days, AV Club?

I tried, but yet again GJ,I! soiled my browser window and I was powerless to stop it. Damn it AV Club, I trusted you!

Badger.

I can't pin down why this album is disappointing. I guess I thought since 'Shrines' felt so new they would always be able to surprise me…

Another couple that are pretty egregious:
"Smells Like Teen Spirit" by Nirvana (1991) and "Everything Zen" by Bush (1994)
"Yellow" by Coldplay (2000) and "Run" by Snow Patrol (2004)

Anybody else get a 'Rick and Morty' "Snowball" vibe from the Waddles segment? I don't feel as though GF is ripping off R&M by any means (the whole Lawnmower Man thing isn't exactly unbroken ground) but it did make me think about how much the shows have in common. Rick & Morty has heart, but it's buried under what

"I'm talking about Yippsy-ki-yay-mother-failure over there." How Eliza Coupe made that line sound natural is amazing. And hilarious.

That's a brilliant connection to another controversial series capper. I appreciated the Harry Potter epilogue for guaranteeing we didn't have to wait for cash-in continuations more than I did for its actual content. Its all about sticking to your guns.

'How I Met Your Mother' was weekly gospel to me for seasons 2-4 (and 1 on DVD) while I was in college. The repeated announcements of renewal and multi-season contracts eventually made me lose interest as it became clear the show was doomed to the American television fate of the best shows living long enough to start

I watched ten straight episodes of this show trying to just cram it into my soul's reference unit, and 'Like A Virgin' was the first (ha, first) one that actually hit that cult show feeling. It took advantage of the established characters for some extra laughs and drama in a loose fun way it hadn't been able to

They might have gone too subtle here, despite all the train murder and school safety hyperbole. That last scene where real political candidates (with real sound bites) are squaring off against a cat that makes a funny noise was a pretty bitter encapsulation of our collective focus.

Ahh, end the hate O'Neal.  It'll probably land on its face in the end, but for now can't we maintain a wounded sort of optimism for a cast that has Elizabeth Banks, Chris Rock and Rob Huebel in it?  At least Garry Marshall isn't actually anywhere near this thing so, like, plus. Right?
