@Laroquod:disqus @avclub-92a4841c9f86965effbc29fa6eae9f77:disqus I'm enjoying this discussion very much, and agree with some points on each side. Just thought I'd say that, rather than just "liking" both sides of the argument, which seems weird. Please continue!

I may not have read far enough down to see if someone said this, but I think you hit it when you said, "Historically this would seem more analogous to the skirmishes in the 1830s and 1840s that led into the Mexican-American War that gave America control of the Southwest." After all, this is a "space western", and

That means "coming to maturity at about 1.5" would be like saying "15", which is about right. (I mean

I did too. Especially since it was two minutes of Dax strutting her science stuff, which we hardly ever see (except for her piping up in a group setting). It's both great to see her in her element, given the themes of the ep, and a nice short reminder of why we don't watch her do that very often (it's kinda boring).

"Let me get this straight: you went to all this trouble to design a 3D environment which projects a 2D image which I now have to wear these glasses to turn back

In his defense, he did say "an hour". :)

@avclub-3db41011acc2d229176bf6a92202728d:disqus That's a very interesting point. I wonder if the age of the main audience, as they got older, had anything to do with this. I went through a time in my 20s where I didn't watch tv at all. So if I had been young enough to see TNG as a kid, then right around the time VOY

@avclub-6aea902f69bd95b8c8c4b81a338b5ec3:disqus This love-of-state stuff was nicely set up in his argument with Bashir: "It all comes down to a question of loyalty. Yuri had to choose between protecting his brother or protecting the state. He chose the state, as would I, as would any Cardassian."

Metatron was also the angel Alan Rickman played in Dogma.

She says it to the main character Bethany, in response to the question, "Why are we here?"

Thank you! Now that (not knowing what it was reminding me of) will stop bugging me.

Poor kid is quite confused because, like most of us, I like Star Wars, but as we play Lego Star Wars the Complete Saga, I'm constantly bitching about the stupid prequels and stupid George Lucas and his weird ideas about love and family leading to chaos and evil. And the midichlorians. Stupid git.
