Is Franz Nicolay back? No? Hmmm…

This is the story of Johnny Rock? (Rock Johnny, Johnny Rock)

'Down to Earth' from Wall*E and his 'Book of Love' cover are pretty great, but it would be nice to hear something fresh from the guy.

It's definitely 'Get Lucky', but it should be the other one. I understand why 'Get Lucky' gets all the attention, kinda, because it's really good. But the guitar riff on 'Lose Yourself to Dance' makes me wanna sex up ev'rone on the damn dance floor.

Can we all acknowledge that this is an amazing lyric, and it elevates that song into fucking goddam masterpiece territory?

He's just about the big damn hero of music this year, period. And this was a fantastic year for music, physical sales notwithstanding, of course.

Maybe not quite camp, but certainly self-aware soap opera? And I love the show, Ollie Queen's always been my hero, etc. And I think JB is very effective as Malcolm Merlyn, it's just not a showy role overall, so he doesn't play it that way.

Yeah, Churchill's raging racist imperialism is enough for me to write the bastard off. He sure as shit wasn't the irrascible uncle w the cuddly center that McNiece and Gatiss portray him as in VotD.

Welcome aboard. I definitely recommend checking out the classic series as well, but w some guidance, and slowly, because it can be daunting.

Agreed on all points, sir. Well, except Saward. Revelation is the only one of his I'd consider revisiting. Yes, I'm the rare bird who doesn't like Earthshock.

Churchill and Nixon were both pretty despicable? At least for leftists like me…

I tentatively agree. JB is pretty great in CoE, but I think that's him clearly punching above his weight. His villainy in Arrow is decent as well, but not earth-shattering or anything.

God, yes. The Doc is all chummy w Churchill but has reservations about Nixon? ugh.

Yeah, the blind patriotism is this story's only flaw, and not a minor one. That I still count this as my favorite nuWho just reveals how completely i love everything else about it.

Everybody knows that everybody dies. But not every day. Not today.

yes indeed. just a sampling:

oh, stop. you may be right (maybe), but it in no way diminishes the power of this one. I love this show because of this one.

Nine is almost always my answer, but Eleven has a strong claim as well.

Yup, this and City of Death are neck-and-neck for my favorite serial, probably always will be.

Ditto. My experience is almost identical, as far as timing goes at least. I caught this on PBS, was enraptured, but didn't really dive in until catching up w the end of Tennant's era and Matt's first series (the regeneration cliffhanger in Stolen Earth was the hook that finally caught me for good).
