Not to knock Colbert but that biting edge of The Report is because of The Daily Show and THAT'S because both are instances of satire playing out perfectly; TDS is the more literal of the 2 in that comedians pretending to be pundit-adjacent pull more poignant and damning commentary than journalists are THOUGHT to do.
