RE: her last album; I've said it before and I'll say it repeatedly…the problem with that album wasn't necessarily the content but the marketing of its singles was horrendous. A "personal" album but dreck like "XO" is the lead single? How is a terribly penned Ryan Tedder song indicative of Beyonce's "personal" issues?…

The same type of crap happened with the whole "Beck won the Album of the Year and not Beyonce" "controversy".

Hyperbole like this is known as "Poptimism" or when it's viewed as "sacrilege" to not constantly adorn a commercially successful pop act with praise for being commercial.

Admittedly, I still think Lemonade works better as a visual than it could as an album. However, "Hold Up" as a visual and song is great and among Bey's secret strength of sounding pleasant while also saying some of the most vicious lyrics around (especially for pop music).
