Given that so much of the show references The Patriot Act and the fallout from Iraq, no, not really.
Then again, 911 happened while I was in high school and I didn't get into AD until the end if uni, so I have some pretty delineated eras to reference.

I thought he was trying to get us off dairy…

Their food is soooo processed now though, it's pretty hard to like.  Everything is made offsite and full of preservatives.  Even MacLeans complained about it.  :(

Gain some weight.  If smalls are too short, but otherwise well fitting, you're not big enough.

I'm pretty sure that if you tell someone the *one* day that you're busy in the next year, and they say that's exactly when they were going to do a thing, that it's possible that they don't really want you there.

I was pretty sure they were Tigger and Piglet-with-weird-hair.

How do we filter out the teases? We don’t let them in.

Now I can afford the shirt that matches these pants!

You sound like my 1000-year-old music history teacher. :)

Probably not.  You might want to do some Whoniverse research on the Daleks and Cybermen, but everything is explained for first time viewers.  And the 2005 season is pretty great!

It may have been an accident, but he was subjected to chemical castration by the British gov't a year or so before his death, so I think suicide is a reasonable possibility.

I would also suggest Miles Davis' Kind of Blue.  Very accessible and pleasing.

I wouldn't bother with WoT if you like Tolkien or prefer serious lit to pulp.  It's a very unfocused mash-up of a lot of fantasy tropes, mostly Camelot, and the writing and pacing leave a lot to be desired.  I made it to the middle of book three before giving up on it, and that was back when I never, ever didn't

I'm never going to watch The Wire.  It's too long and grim.  After having it on my hard drive for over a year, I finally deleted it last month when I was running low on space.  This is my horrible confession.

And/or serious mental health issues…

You have to admit, it's pretty compelling penis…

NASCAR cars are really stripped out. There's no feedback stuff, no computers.  It's just a guy in a car with freaking huge motor.  I still don't really want to watch it, but the recent Top Gear (UK) episode about NASCAR made me appreciate it a little bit.  I think it would be more fun to actually go to and watch
