@avclub-0a7d7a81e8e3a20e4c34748e98ef45f6:disqus I think I just took more issue with the whole "sub in control" thing. I mostly agree with how you explained it, but I don't know that it's the loss of mystery that made her end things (which is why I kind of believe she really did have this dream that helped her finally

I hate to be the downer here, but in a lot of relationships (and I'm not just strictly speaking from experience) people fuck with their clothes on, or they don't cuddle and immediately put their clothes on afterward. Maybe it's a one night stand, maybe it's a long-term thing. Whatever. Nudity isn't required for

@disqus_okgItcD0yy:disqus Women might also cover up to be coy and playful, so there's also that.

@avclub-0a7d7a81e8e3a20e4c34748e98ef45f6:disqus I think when you say "she had the control all along" it sounds like they were both engaged in a power struggle, when in fact, it was extremely one-sided. Sylvia wasn't playing any games with Don. To her it was sex play she was confused by, which is why she was so slow to

She's so much MORE than Lindsay Weir though! She was in that one Human Giant sketch, after all.

@avclub-589622fb3974db41fbe4a37b78d8585c:disqus  If I'm going to show off it's kind of purposeful I guess. I need to know someone wants to see it if I'm going to show it - wouldn't want someone to get sick of it too soon, even if they've seen me naked before/we just had sex. I'm sure most guys prefer your experience

Yeah my family is Cuban and they hate Colombians (for some crazy reason) so I think all I'd have to do is say John Leguizamo is in town and hope they even remember who that is by that point.

I knew it was only a matter of time before Girls became a part of this conversation!

It is a pretty hilarious brush-off, but only because it actually worked. Now I guess I just need to sort out my feelings about the use of dementia as comic relief?

I'm a fairly unreserved woman who covers up on occasion (either out of modesty, shyness, or physical discomfort) so I assure you, it totally happens and I have no idea what the fuck that guy is talking about.

@avclub-0a7d7a81e8e3a20e4c34748e98ef45f6:disqus All that's really saying is that he never had a gun to her head. If they'd never had so much as a single discussion about roleplaying, I doubt she'd be hardcore committed to doing everything he asked, so yeah, she was always going to be the one in control. She wasn't

@disqus_okgItcD0yy:disqus I don't think he's had the chance to do much of anything yet (and I'm hoping he never gets to) but clearly both characters are incredibly hungry for quick success.

He basically did what most caregivers do and came up with a temporary solution on the fly to keep that person safe (without agitating them too much). I guess she hates the Irish, so in her mind she would rather stay there another night than deal with the nuisance of going outside. He didn't actually frighten her.

I kind of agree with you on the 1962 thing. People of a certain age seem to get stuck in a time warp fashion-wise, and if she is supposed to be in her late 30's/early 40's (closer to her age in real life) then her look serves as a nice bit of realism. Also, Don's reluctance to accept change makes her appeal make a lot

I suppose I should have just gone with "creepy", but I'm not in any kind of shape for important decisions like that right now.

@avclub-825ada08204841b3968f25b4c6f7ebfb:disqus I mean, I get that she was trying to soften the blow (at least with her manner, I'm not sure about the dream bit) but she just didn't need to. It really didn't work for her, and just served to make him more upset. Eventually she had to drop the act and tell him it was

@avclub-825ada08204841b3968f25b4c6f7ebfb:disqus That might be true, although I don't think she needed to soften the blow that way if she really wanted to end it without an argument from Don.

What's wrong with her exactly? Is it the wig?

Bob Benson is definitely very season one Pete Campbell. Which I guess just serves as some contrast for Pete and how far his character has come along…he used to be an unsuccessful, manipulative shithead chasing after any tail he could get, now he's a successful shithead living with his mother.

It's pretty late here and I'm a little drunk, but this comment was insanely creepy to read. Or entertaining. Whichever.
