Funny to hear Mitchell singing "Mr. Tambourine Man" with James Taylor on the video here for the Amchitka album, given some of the nasty things she's been quoted as saying about Dylan in recent years. That testifies to the somewhat strange transformations she's gone through over time, from quintessential hippie chick

Agree. Mike in real life would be a terrible and frightening person but as a TV character he was extremely likable. A killer with integrity and a no-bullshit gravitas that was gave him an (admittedly incongruous) moral authority in a den of scoundrels. Jesse's struggles are similarly appealing, for different reasons

Is there a conspiracy theory to explain the fact that searches on both iTunes and Rhapsody turn up nothing on Mothers of Invention?

In regard to the comment that Zappa wasn't very funny," note that he guest hosted Saturday Night Live in its early days and became one of the hosts most hated by the cast and crew.

Right on, Josey Wales Motor Sales. I was a writer at TV Guide when you could actually do good journalism there, before Rupert Murdoch (aka The Antichrist) bought it. (I also studied with Judith Crist at Columbia J. School. She was a tough old bird who took pride in being a tough old bird. I didn't see much of her
