Fair enough.  I haven't seen "Book of Mormon," but I definitely take your point.  I admittedly misread that part of your comment and was just feeling that, man, Matt and Trey, when they are in attack mode, are much more impressive to me than Seth MacFarlane.  Especially in this case.  He went after the Christmas

Respectfully disagree.  Matt and Trey have always been thoughtful re: religion.  See SP episodes like "Go, God, Go" and "All About Mormons."  To me at least, South Park doesn't come across as "pulling punches" but rather a nod to the gray area inherent in this type of subject matter.  And that m.o. strikes me as much
