She also probably didn't want you to see Penny (Janet Jackson) getting burned by an iron for punishment.

Liked both.  227 could be inconsistent, but the best episodes are amazing, usually involving Sandra (like when she's a talk show host or a weatherman).   Jackee's deserves a lot of credit for the creation of that character.  Let us not forget Pearl and her zingers.

Martin was, and still is, genuinely laugh out loud funny.  A bit manic and over-the-top at times, but that was the point.

Dwyane, Kim, Dawn, Vernon (the cook), Col. Taylor were all fairly dark main characters.  After Season 1, there I didn't feel like it was an "overall light skinned cast in the main players".   I think because of Whitley's preeminence in the show, people think it was "lighter" overall than it really was.

"Foxy" needs to make a comeback.   I mean actual magazine, newspaper articles using it to describe females.  It actually is a unique word.  Means something other than simply "sexy" or "beautiful" or "cute".

It was a mess, but it had some very good stretches, and some great episdoes.

Classic 227 is incredible.   Sandra is too funny for words.

It was fairly successful in its original run, but I agree, it gained even more followers and good reviews during syndication.

There's a lot of deserving nominees, but it all seems so predictable and boring.   It's nice to be surprised once and a while.

Unfortunately, that's probably it.

It's her cool, robot demeanor.    I despise her, probably less because of what she does to my favorite characters (she is actually just doing her job), but because I'm sort of scared of her.   She also seems like she'd be a total bore and an insufferable person away from the job.  I actually think Anika Noni Rose does

I sort of agree about the antagonism, but I do basically agree with the review.   Seems like the show is treading water and resorting to cheap (and unrealistic in the course of WSC) tricks to make itself seem interesting (what was the Nick storyline, other than some contrived subplot to ramp up the "drama" which

I know it's motivated by kindness and the urge to "do someting" but I totally agree.   These kids were largely upper middle class.  They don't need more toys (and if they did, teddy bears?  It's not 1960).  But, every time this happens, there's all sorts of rapidly expanding malignant tumors of cheap teddy bears and

I watched a block recently on IFC and undestand why it has its cult following.  I like Armisen and Brownstein and I respect the idea of doing this show.   I just find it wildly inconsistent in quality.   There are some really good chuckles to be had, but other times I find it unwatchable.

"It has nothing to do with contrarianism"

I've never once thought of ATDI as "Latin". Yes, they're from El Paso, and some members of the band are Latino, but "Latin indie band" would mean that the music is Latin or Latin-influenced, right?

If Bowie had been the orginator and labled it "Plastic Soul" everyone would think its cool (though they'd never actually listen to it).

"This feature sucks because no one ever picks a song other people actually like."

I love that you used "mom jeans" to describe something else.   It's a perfect description, and I'll now try to apply it across many categories when I want to communicate my distaste for something —  "This is like the fucking mom jeans of ____".    What did you think of ____?   "Totally mom jeans."
