Yeah, that's really not true in the slightest. There's a ton of amazing history podcasts for example, more than I will ever find time to listen to.  But like anything self-published you have to dig through a lot of crap to find the gems.

I guess it depends on what exactly this column is trying to do. I think covering podcasts like they were TV shows is a mistake because podcasts aren't story driven. They're not really events, they're more often than not just a few people shooting the shit. And with the batch of podcasts here, it tends to be the same

I finally just looked up what Clams Casino is. Man, that's a really weird dish straight out of the Gilded Age or something. Seems like something Boss Tweed would be eating.

I dunno. Right now all HBO cares about is if you subscribe. Ratings and actual viewer numbers really don't mean that much to them and their shows are basically attractions to get you hooked. DVDs matter too of course, but I'm not sure that actually factors into their decision making.
