@ J.P. Hamburger person

Did you (or anyone) read that New Yorker profile on Lorre a while back? My impression is that he wants his programs to be wall-to-wall laughs and anything even remotely approaching the tempo of a "real" conversation wouldn't make it past the first draft.

Geeky Bullies
One thing I liked about this movie is how it doesn't pull any punches when it comes to depicting Brooks' and Hunter's characters. Even though Hurt has the shakiest professional ethics out of the triangle, he is without a doubt the nicest and most pleasant person in the story. A lot of the movie is

Really, the entire mainland movie industry should just sink into the ocean at this point. I'm having trouble coming up with even one good movie made there in the past five years (maybe Ip Man?)

I never understood why Sopranos fans made such a big deal out of the missing Russian. Like the review said, the specter of the Russian showing up to whack Paulie or Chris or whomever was a nice bit of mystery, but fans were still talking about it while season 5 was airing. Did anyone really believe that Chase would

@Girard,

Studio 60 lost me at the episode where one of the character's parents flew from Ohio to visit him and the ungrateful little shit spent the whole episode mortified by his folks' square behavior. Plus, if I recall correctly, the parents were supportive of their son's career choice, even if they didn't understand it, so

Man, remember how moving it was when Adama first broke down and cried? And then how Moore ruined that moment by turning Adama into a weepy bitch for most of season 4?

Yeah, I go for the low-hanging fruit.

The date says it all, gentlemen.

Dority Quotes?
I refer to certain people as "sea-creature-looking cocksuckers" when appropriate (and when I'm in no danger of catching a beating for doing so.

I've been reading a ton of Chinese fiction and nonfiction lately. I'm always confused when I enjoy a translated work about whether I'm appreciating the original author or the translator.

Yeah, same here. From the review, it sounds like a Wong Kar-Wai movie with white people, but not all shitty like that Jude Law one.

Dude, the only thing that kept me watching Southland Tales was the suspense of which late 80s/early 90s SNL member would pop up next. Take away the goofy cast and the only good thing left is a B.R.M.C song.

@ Beige Alert- Yeah, but the cool thing about it is that is how Data would express anger without cheap plot devices like the emotion chip. The idea of "Fajo is willing to kill his own people, therefore I must kill Fajo in order to project others" is just one interpretation of the events. Why did Data choose the

Thanks. "The Most Toys" is this season? Man, Season 3 has more classic episodes than I had remembered.

Star Trek: Borg the PC Game/Movie
Sorry this isn't germane to this week's episodes, but did anyone else have this as a kid? It was a 'choose your own adventure" movie featuring Q and the Borg. I always get a kick when I see one of the actors from it on some shitty WB show or something.

"Attached" had a pretty good ending. I know it was probably due to the nature of returning things to the status quo, but I liked how Crusher kind of "dumped" Picard at the end.

Best Data Episode?
"Ensigns" is OK, but not as good as I remember it. I thought the B story of Picard and the Shelliak was more entertaining than the Data plot, and Data is probably my favorite character.

Emotion Chip
Cookie Monster already said it, but the whole concept of the emotion chip blows. TNG gets deserved flak for being kind of cold and emotionless, but Data's attempt to be more human was usually executed fairly well and was moving. "Generations" definitely undermined the subtle development of Data as a
