Good point. I sure didn't notice it when it aired. This is a good example of the director's style and reputation possibly fostering more "meaning" behind random accidents than other artists. See also: The Beatles' late-60's period, Stanley Kubrick's The Shining, etc.
This is an interesting idea. But how in the world could they even do that, but by ACCIDENT? I mean, you'd think all you need to do is just set up an over-the-shoulder POV shot and get a minute or two, and done.
They're like the Nazis of pants.
I feel like the biggest accomplishment the "alt right" has achieved is establishing the use of "alt right" as their brand. It makes it seem like just one side of the political spectrum…if you oppose them, you're on the left (or "alt left", as our dipshit president claims). Just being for justice and equality, and…
Sounds like an ill-advised Matt Johnson side project.
I get the impression that Stan may not even quite believe his artist contemporaries were really ripped off in the first place, but he seems at least convinced by public opinion to do more for their legacy than he otherwise would have. I can even understand his view that HE was the primary creator of those characters,…
Wait a minute…..the needle on my handy "sarcasm-meter" just moved. Weird.
I'm hearing this in Edith Bunker's voice.
Comment/avatar synergy at max!
On the whole, I tend to agree with you. My favorite might be Daffy Duck Slept Here, where Porky has to room with him, and Daffy staggers in drunk, talking to his friend Hymie, an invisible kangaroo.
Oh, man. "TA HAVE!!!" was one of my go-to Looney Toons quotes.
I feel the same way. I see a lot of jokey stuff about how to punch Nazis, etc. I guess part of it is that Nazis and their ilk are literally marching/campaigning on removing certain people from the country or the inherent "evil-ness" of them, which automatically does imply some kind of force or violence even if it's…
I don't know. I'm not sure we need to give credit to a president who only denounces hate groups after 2-3 days, even after being asked point-blank, for fear of alienating the virulent racists that form his base, and only after submitting to political pressure to correct course. I'm pretty content NOT giving credit…
Fair enough. I think that's the key element, anyway. Him actually acknowledging the KKK and other hate groups is an improvement, but it would seem to be too little, too late.
I dunno. That statement on Saturday seems carefully engineered to NOT come out against the white supremacists or the violence that erupted from that movement. Any of those people reading his statement could say it was about the anti-racist protesters, and apparently there were statements that indicated how happy…
It's really weird the way they're playing it—it seemed like the whole series was Dany turning Jorah down. Now he's back, and she seems more affectionate than before. I feel like they're purposefully heightening their relationship so that it will have a bigger impact when he inevitably dies.
Although I'm thinking with their interaction this episode, we may well see Jon riding one before the end of the series.
Duh, me. I keep thinking that he and Sansa are at the wall for some reason. I forget that they're back in Winterfell now.
I guess this makes sense. Since the note he hid/planted incriminated Sansa, I wasn't sure how that would play into it. But as someone else pointed out, it may be a way to get rid of Arya if she accuses Sansa of self-interest—which she apparently already suspects anyway. Which is stupid. After his years of…
