I think that the Joel/Julia thing had problems from the start, as we never got even an inkling that the father was involved, and now, all of a sudden, he is very much in the picture?!?  And, yes, Julia is an attorney, so how could she turn a blind eye to the possibility of the birth father not being cool with it!?!
