didn't picard leave the bridge to wesley while they were parked in space dock? i think that's totally acceptable procedure, since star fleet had no reason to mistrust the bynars.

the funniest bit was actually when jack defended the name: "*your* last name must sound weird to *them*."

hm, perhaps you're right. i guess i was just realizing that i really didn't laugh at all at this episode, but i still enjoyed it. but i don't usually enjoy typical sitcom "aww" situations.

ugh, they are taught so many things at harvard, almost none of them useful. lesson one seems to be: harvard is awesome. lesson two is: be super proud that you went here, but be faux-humble about it.

the "not saying harvard" game
another favorite part of the episode for me was poking fun at the lengths people go to to make sure you know they went to harvard without actually saying the word "harvard." funny because true.

sitcom stats
i agree it lost some steam after a strong start, but i wasn't nearly as unimpressed by the jack-nancy stuff, i think in large part because as a native of minnesota who has lived in boston, i really appreciated the repression jokes. i give it a solid B+.

sitcom or chucklethon aww-fest?
i'm getting the impression that P&R is shaping up to be aiming less for humor and more for gently amusing anecdotes accompanying sympathetic character arcs. they seem to be doing a better job making us care about the characters than laughing.

looked like a euphonium to me.

anyone ever watch "legend of the seeker"?
i'm a bit embarrassed to admit i watch that very forgettable but somehow kinda entertaining "lord of the rings" wannabe show. but tonight i was reminded of how they had a clip-show episode in their FIRST SEASON. that really was beyond the pale.

i like to imagine…
…that Aniston is secretly just fucking with all the tabloids, and gets together with a coterie of conspirators to have a good laugh every time this stuff hits the stands.

one thing that would undoubtedly have improved this episode:
they should have had Amy Acker talk with a british accent like clyde. seriously, it's not that hard.

maybe he's hanging out in the future with peter petrelli's irish girlfriend.

did you fall asleep?

regarding boyd's machinations, he seemed to imply that putting echo through all of that (maybe not just the many imprints, but having to use them all on a big quest) was necessary to force her nervous system to make the needed vaccine compounds.

you know, some of us internet viewers don't see the promos. so how's about you
DON'T GIVE AWAY SPOILERS about them.

what i actually thought of when this happened was that i'd just read the avclub interview with… ok, i know he's a real person who has a name, but… with kevin from the office. he mentioned how his favorite kevin moment is in the 4th season when dwight tricks the new HR employee holly into thinking kevin was mentally

it has a dark ending. sort of.

oh man (ach so). in my defense, that's not at all what he said, right? Alec Baldwin needs some serious work on his vowels and umlauts! u! a!

fastandsloppy, just for you, here's another fun fact about working with MRI machines:

oh, weird! i totally spaced out and thought it was Christopher Gartin from trueblood. they… kind of look alike, right? a little bit? ok, i'm on crack.
