aha, "limited yearnings," that makes more sense. still totally lost on the second line, though.

anyone's german way better than mine?
i can't make head or tails of the poem jack reads in the voicemail. maybe it's just his terrible accent… "suschten" isn't a german word, is it??

zat's awwfoll!

i guess the back of the knee is the knee's butt, right?

i had to rewind four times to figure out what his first line was tonight (in the elevator). it reminded me of the time he said, "i *struggled* to get through that sentence."

oh, also:

the best star wars/trek line was indisputably from season one's "the head and the hair."

"ice cold diarrhea"? really?

hm, the jack-describing-liz type of humor is my least favorite for the show. it seems obvious to me. the James Franco humor seems much fresher, cleverer, and more innovative.

jealous
leslie stole my non-vampire trueblood boyfriend! i always forget his name, but i crave him. i hope he sticks around for a while to keep making me jealous of Amy Poehler.

omg, Todd, you're Garrison Keillor and i'm bart & homer!

if there's a grading curve in need of rejiggering…
…it's the simpsons. i've been misled by those reviews so many times! misled into watching an episode that i then very much wished i hadn't wasted time watching. soooooo… fix that.

you can beat it! you don't need it! be strong, and live free!

meta!
i have to comment on how there are so many comments. i'm having trouble fathoming why people care about this.

Bravely Into The, i can't speak for anyone else, but i addressed my comment quite explicitly to Todd, the reviewer, who (assuming he's the regular reviewer of the show) has been insistently saying good things about the current simpsons since avclub coverage began.

we sure don't see eye to eye.
sorry, but anyone who keeps insisting (seemingly again and again) that the simpsons is "still reliably entertaining", and even suggesting that any recent episodes can measure up to the classic seasons, just loses my respect as an entertainment critic. i have to assume either that you

where in canada do they say Ts like that? i've known lots of canadians, but the only people i've heard say Ts that way are trying to make their voices "distinctive" as alt-rock front singers or film trailer narrators.

wtf is up with "judith"?
dammit, i keep coming here to post something and then forgetting what it was while i read other new comments. but here it is:

agreed about ballard.
large and growing annoyance factor. for me, it's the pursing thing he does with his lips after every sentence, and the self-consciously breathy way he says Ts. "we're not leaving yet(ah)." grrrrrr.
