@avclub-0f2a88b3b0df4b2cca4df1e6c67af432:disqus A-fucking-men. And so damn cynical, too. It looks like it was made by a bunch of execs who basically went: What's critically lauded? Those talking head things? Boom! Throw 'em in there! Is it a documentary? Who gives a fuck! What is this, a coherent creative vision? Like

"Now that it’s over, Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight trilogy seems likely to be remembered as the definitive populist statement of our time."
Those films with blatant fascistic undertones, the most muddled politics, and ill-motivated anti-authoritarian villains you've ever seen? This is the definitive populist

Also Alfred's entire arc is basically just Affleck's character in Good Will Hunting.

Let's be honest, knowing this guy if he didn't have the gun, it'd probably be a sai or medieval sword of some kind.

Worth it alone for the story of when he went broke and Anne Bancroft would discretely slip him money under the table at restaurants so he could pay the bill. I realize it's rooted in some patronizing patriarchal bullshit, but goddamn is it a sweet snapshot of their relationship all the same.

I'm surprised everyone has overlooked my favorite joke of the night, and maybe great running joke of the series: Dennis' failed before they get off the ground entrepreneurial efforts - suicide insurance. Took me a second to put it together, but I had to pause it in a fit of laughter once I did. Almost as good as his

@avclub-42763705844bf5e2af4abd6c898f8dcb:disqus Be warned from this New Yorker, it's immediately followed by a deep and intense shame you carry with you for the rest of your life.

That and what The Learning Channel used to be…fucking crazy. If it were a fictional channel within the show I'd say it was too on the nose in its commentary.

Chuck & Mac are just awesome, but recorded astonishingly few records. They had that great Sam & Dave dynamic of one gorgeous tenor hovering over that gruff soulful baritone. My favorite of theirs is "You're the One Who Loved Me."

"That was jazz, a jazz ensemble of some kind. I'm not the usual DJ, but I'm trying my best. Here's some news from the news machine…"
