I enjoyed the romping with the giant bugs and dinosaurs on the island, but anything featuring Watts and Kong sucked the air out of the movie.

It's actually Dreamworks signing the deal with Netflix instead of Dreamworks re-upping on its deal with HBO.  I had the same reaction, and then my brain went "oh . . . nevermind."
