And I think we probably just have a difference of opinion here. I don't think it's the job or responsibility of the show to attack/comment on/attempt to disrupt the current male-centric state of advertising and product sales. It's pretty clear that the largest market for these types of indulgent fantasies would be

Yeah, bringing kids there is insane. I agree that we very likely won't see other worlds in any kind of detail. It would be crazy expensive. I'm not sure we are told that WW is the only park, even if it is said to be "one-of-a-kind." (unfortunately I don't remember the context when that was said)

My reaction was that while I wouldn't want to go to the park, if I ended up there for some reason, I'd go the white had route. And there would be some excitement to be had in "saving the day" in some way. Maybe preventing Dolores' family from being killed, or saving someone who's been kidnapped by bandits, or

Maybe that's the point? Maybe the show will demonstrate how quickly the novelty of the park wears off for many/most of the guests (obviously not the MIB), and that human imagination, on average, is really boring. Ford's speech about boredom is interesting in this light. It's a seemingly accurate commentary to me -

It could be that this game (Westworld specifically) is tailored to straight, young men (who are, after all, the most susceptible to advertising). There are certainly other games, and those may be less "mainstream" or whatever, and may cater to different markets. I agree - it would be great to see those, or even to

That is a real possibility. And it would make sense that he drags her in there and gives the appearance that he's going to assault her, in case the gamemakers happen to be watching him at that moment.

That was really strange. I couldn't decide if I thought the map was already on the man's skull and a super hard to find clue, or if the MIB drew it on the inside of the skull after talking to the scalped man, based on what the man told him. Weird either way.

I don't think she's great either. And her accent is distracting. I suppose it's possible that she always sounds that way (I don't recall seeing her in anything else), but she sounds like a Dutch speaker trying to do an American accent, and it's not good.

I thought he was removing spent casings, after killing all the guys who were about to hang Lawrence. So he was simply reloading.

Where does that information come from? It seems like it would be super difficult to determine how much "profit" comes from child exploitation.

Oh man, tattoo removal on your entire arm must be hell.

Enough. Quit teasing me by talking about awesome actors in the role of Roland. I feel like the adaptation is either never going to happen, or be done so poorly as to waste the source material. Elba would be fantastic, but I just can't imagine it actually happening.

Strongly disagree re the superiority of the Rolling Stones. In fact, I think the Stones are easily the most overrated rock band in history. And just about anything after Exile on Main Street is grossly overrated (and in some cases, derivative and just plain bad - see Emotional Rescue)

It's actually Al Stroble that plays Phillip Gerard / One Armed Man, not Gary Hershberger.

I really miss my first character on Anarchy Online.  I started playing in mid-2006, when the population was still high.  I loved the sci-fi theme, and met tons of great people.  I left for about a year, and when I came back, someone had hacked/stolen my account and I couldn't get it back.  Most of my in game friends

Wizards and Warriors was medium difficulty, except for one jump you could only make with a certain potion (blue?) that sped you up. You had to sit there forever killing enemies until that potion randomly dropped. And the final boss was pretty tough too.

@Shawne: Phantasy Star 2 is my favorite console game of all time. Fantastic graphics, great emotional storyline, and some cool tricks (like having to level Shir up just to steal the recorder).

I had the exact same experience with Phantasy Star. My neighbor was a slightly strange middle aged dude who had mapped the whole game on graph paper and let me borrow the maps. It weirded my dad out like crazy, but I would never have figured out a few of the dungeons without them. (like the final one, where you have

Recut trailer
For some reason, this trailer feels like one of those recut trailers, like Mary Poppins as a horror movie, except the original movie was a terrible megamelodrama and they are trying to make it look like a comedy. Doesn't look funny at all.
