I don't see why the comeuppance thing is a problem.

1. Very happy to see people bringing Once Upon a Time in Anatolia back into the conversation.  I felt like it received respectful criticisms earlier in the year, then disappeared.  Definitely in my top 5.

Co-sign all of this.  There's literally nothing added to the plot that was necessary, useful, or interesting.  I can see why Jackson was attracted to the larger lore of Tolkien's world, but there's a reason Tolkien abandoned his own attempts to rewrite The Hobbit in a more serious, epic vein.  It's a mess.

I agree with all the negative comments - the movie's a hot mess - but to its credit (or rather, Tolkein's), the characters are much more interesting than LOTR's largely 2-D Fellowship.  Freeman is more hobbit-y than Wood, and though not all the dwarfs got screentime, I thought they did a good job fleshing out the

This is exactly right: what this will likely need is a fan edit into a single film, à la Topher Grace's Star Wars edits.   So much of this installment is unnecessary, bloated, and uncomfortable, but there's also so much good stuff that it's easily salvageable.

Genevieve: I totally hear you… I was driving around earlier today belting out Fiona's songs, and she's not nearly in my vocal range, so consider yourself lucky.  Favorite song for belting: "Daredevil", with that magnificent "Look at look at look at look at me, I'm all the fishes in the sea!"  Getting a little raspy in

"Haha!  Another triumph for Alien!" should be a catchphrase.

Yeah, so this is surprisingly good.  The last time Sufjan collaborated on a hip-hop project, it didn't turn out so well.

Dialect-"That's Racist" is correct.  It's from WonderShowzen.  Enjoy.
